Two New Hershey’s Candies We Simply Cannot Get Enough Of

Every once in a while, a new candy shows up at our huge candy warehouse that makes us stop what we’re doing, open the bag immediately, and suddenly forget all about the blog post we were in the middle of writing!

Hershey’s has managed to do that to us not just once, but twice this week - and we're happy they did.

Two new Hershey’s snack-size chocolates have arrived at Blair Candy, and they take familiar Hershey’s milk chocolate in two very different, very delicious directions. One brings together coffee, caramel, and vanilla for a candy inspired by an Italian dessert. The other brings together that nearly impossible-to-resist combination of salty and sweet.

We’re talking about Hershey’s Affogato Snack Size Milk Chocolates and Hershey’s Salted Caramel Snack Size Milk Chocolates, and choosing a favorite is proving to be considerably harder than we expected.

Hershey’s Affogato: Coffee and Chocolate Were Meant for Each Other

If you’ve never had an affogato, it's a traditional, very simple Italian dessert: espresso poured over gelato or ice cream. It’s creamy, rich, coffee-forward, and exactly the kind of dessert that makes you wonder why coffee and ice cream aren’t served together more often.

Hershey’s took that idea and turned it into candy.

Hershey’s Affogato Snack Size Milk Chocolates feature a classic Hershey’s milk chocolate shell filled with espresso-flavored caramel and smooth vanilla creme.

And yes, it works.

You get the familiar creamy milk chocolate first, followed by the coffee flavor from the espresso caramel and then that softer vanilla creme finish. It feels a little more grown-up than your average candy bar while still being unmistakably Hershey’s.

These are especially dangerous if you happen to be the type of person who enjoys a piece of chocolate with an afternoon cup of coffee. Put a bowl of them anywhere near the coffee maker and there’s a good chance the bowl won’t remain full for very long.

The individually wrapped snack-size pieces also make them easy to toss into a candy dish, desk drawer, lunch bag, or anywhere else you might need what we’ll generously call an “emergency chocolate supply.”

Hershey’s Salted Caramel: Because Sweet and Salty Always Wins

Then there’s the other new arrival, and this one might be even harder to stop eating.

Hershey’s Salted Caramel Snack Size Milk Chocolates pair Hershey’s milk chocolate with a rich salted caramel creme filling. The caramel brings the sweetness, while a little salt keeps the whole thing from becoming overly sugary.

It’s one of those combinations that doesn’t need much explaining.

Chocolate? Good.

Caramel? Very good.

Salted caramel inside chocolate? Please hand over the bag.

The creamy milk chocolate and buttery caramel work together exactly the way you hope they will, while the hint of salt gives each bite just enough contrast to make you immediately consider having another one.

And because they’re snack-size and individually wrapped, it’s incredibly easy to tell yourself you’re just having one.

So Which One Should You Try?

That depends on what kind of candy person you are.

If coffee-flavored desserts are your weakness, start with the Hershey’s Affogato. The combination of espresso caramel, vanilla creme, and milk chocolate makes it unlike the typical chocolate candy sitting in your candy dish.

If you’re firmly on Team Salted Caramel, the Hershey’s Salted Caramel version is probably going to disappear frighteningly fast.

Our preferred solution, of course, is not choosing at all.

Get one bag of each.

Put them in a candy dish.

Conduct your own highly scientific taste test.

Then repeat the experiment as necessary.
